Warriors Drop 2 After Layoff

Neither the Bay State League's opt-out rule nor Mother Nature were kind to the Brookline Warriors boys basketball team this week. After back-to-back wins on January 19 and 20 over King Philip (71-43) and Natick (76-57), information pills Brookline's record stood at 10-3  (7-2 in the BSL). However, ask a Friday night off caused by Dedham's refusal to play a league scheduled game and a postponement of the Milton game due to a snowstorm meant an unusual 10-day midseason hiatus for the Warriors. When they returned to the hardwood last Friday, they dropped a tough overtime contest at Needham 60-57. Ronan Schwarz, who's jumper with 3 seconds to go in regulation sent the game to OT, led all scorers with 23. Tyler Patterson chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds. On Sunday, Jack Moyer and Patterson led the Warriors with 13 and 10 points respectively, but it wasn't enough as Brookline squandered a 7 point halftime lead and lost at Milton 44-39. The Warriors now stand at 10-5 (8-4 in the BSL). Depending on the weather, they will be back in action on Tuesday, 2/3, at Braintree at 5:00.
