1/26/10 - Brookline vs Needham
by Administrator on Thursday 28 January 2010

Jacob Page hits for 22 points, and Brookline beats Needham, 55-47. In a close battle from start to finish, the Warriors avenged an earlier season collapse by protecting their home court, and playing shut down defense down the stretch. Coming from 5 points down to tie the score 27-27 at halftime, Brookline opened up a 5 point lead by the end of the third. Strong half court defense held Needham to 6 points in the 4th quarter and led to the final margin of 8.

"It was gut check time for the team," said the coach. "The guys showed some real determination on defense and some solid execution on offense. Now the challenge is to play better on Friday against Natick than we did today. I thought we had about 16 minutes of in your face basketball."

The bulk of the scoring fell on Page(16ppg avg.), who scored 25 pts in the first contest in a losing effort. It was the lock down defense that eventually sealed the win.

"Our perimeter defense was smart and intense. I can't remember a shot from the edge that someone didn't have a hand up contesting it."

The Warriors also had major contributions from Dante Davis(10pts, 6rebs), Tre Woodson(8pts, 8rebs, 4assists), Drew Levey(6pts, 5rebs, 4assists), and Shaq Brummett(6pts, 6rebs, 3assists).
