2/9/10 - Newton North vs Brookline
by Administrator on Thursday 11 February 2010
Newton North beats Brookline, 69-44, as Warriors get trounced. In one of the more one sided rivalry match ups in recent years, the Tigers, led by Greg Kelley(27pts, 14 rebs) surged to an easy win at Newton.
"To say I'm dissapointed with the mental toughness of my team is an understatement." commented Fiedor. "We have to be able to execute a game plan and not fold under the pressure of a quality team. There's still time, but not much time to get it straight."
The Warriors had only 12 assists to go with 17 turnovers along with giving up 40 first half points. Newton scored multiple times in transition as well as getting 19 offensive rebounds for the game.
"Transition defense, box outs, turnovers, help defense, running the offense. . .thats basketball 101. You don't do those things, and you lose to any team in the Bay State. My wife always says to me, 'there just kids honey, remember that'. . and my response is. . yeah, but men are the ones who advance in the playoffs and that is the goal of this team. We've been in the playoffs 22 of last 25 years, that's old hat around here, our vision is beyond just qualifying."
The Warriors, with 2 wins, could improve their chances of a home playoff game.
