Dave Ford
Freshmen Coach
Dave was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Although he didn’t play at Sacred Heart, his passion for the game has made him a lifelong student of the game.
After graduating high school, Dave attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI where he received his 2 year Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. After that, Dave attended The University of New Haven and received his BA in Business Management with a minor in Finance.
Dave’s career in cooking would eventually lead him to education whereby he would become a long term culinary arts instructor at Warren F. Kaynor Vocational School in Waterbury, CT. There, he would begin his career in coaching by accepting the head Freshmen Basketball and assistant Varsity Baseball coaching positions. During his first season as basketball coach, he led the Panthers to a 500 season.
As a baseball assistant, he helped win the schools first league title and a spot in the Connecticut State Baseball Tournament as a representative of the vocational schools around the state.
After his move to Massachusetts in 1998, Dave attended UMass Boston and received his teacher certificate in Vocational Education concentrating in Culinary Arts as well as Bridgewater State University where he received his M.Ed in Leadership Studies.
In 1998, Dave joined the faculty staff at Brookline High School as a Culinary Arts instructor and joined the Warrior staff as an assistant JV coach under Fiedor in the 00-01 season. After the 01 season, he was named head Freshman/Varsity assistant coach and has currently finished up his 10th season in remarkable fashion finishing at a perfect 21-0 (139-54 overall) which was tops in the Bay State Conference for the 3rd straight year in a row and 6th in his 10 year career.
Dave is a key member for player development as well as an important role model around the school for the student/athletes at Brookline High. He sets high standards for young players while instilling players with a “commitment to excellence” philosophy which is the backbone of the Brookline Men’s Basketball program.
Dave resides in Brookline with his wife Erica and their two sons Mike 9 and Tyler 5.
