Coach Klein has been in Brookline since 2001. He has served as head coach of the devotion boys basketball team since 2002 leading his team to town championships in 2004-05 and 2007-08.  Klein has also been part of the Brookline high school warriors program since 2004 in many different capacities. He has spent 3 seasons as an assistant freshman coach under coach ford and 3 more seasons as the assistant jv coach under coach Etienne. He is currently coaching his 4th season as the 8th grade boys travel team head coach.

 Klein is a 6th grade social studies and English teacher. He began his work in brookline after finishing his undergraduate  work at Northeastern University. Joel is a second generation basketball coach learning his craft from his father Stu Klein who headed up the Nassau Community College Lions in Garden City New York for 29 years.
