Mark Fiedor

Mark has lived in the Boston area since 1981. After playing at Bowie High, Maryland’s largest public school, Fiedor was recruited to play for Boston University by then Terrier head coach Rick Pitino. He spent the next 2 years playing for Pitino and started at center for the BU championship team of 1983. Pitino moved on following Mark’s sophomore year and was replaced by University of North Carolina standout, and NBA veteran, John Kuester.. Following his college career, Mark worked as a minister in the city of Boston for 3 ½ years and after spending 7 years away from the game, volunteered his coaching services to Lance Tucker, and the Brookline program for the 91-92 season. Fiedor coached the freshman boys for 3 years and the junior varsity for 4 years, before taking over for the departing Tucker in May of 2001.

“As the head varsity coach, the goal is to have a program that is committed to excellence. We are working to develop players who are worthy of respect on and off the court, committed to the classroom and prepared to step up and play college basketball if they so choose.”

Mark was honored with the Boston Globe Coach of the Year award for Division 1 in 2002, his first year at the helm of the Varsity. This followed the Warriors 23-2 run to the state finals. He also received the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year award for 2004 in the south section of the state, after the teams 21-5 run to the state finals. Fiedor has a degree in mechanical engineering and a Masters in education. He currently teaches 5 math classes and works extensively with students with complex learning issues. Mark has been married for 21 years to Valerie (Williams) and has 3 kids, Gabrielle (15), Skyler (13) and Austin (9).
